July - Set up a blogger's area at your festival

Feedback is wonderful. It tells us what we're doing right - and wrong. It tells us how to improve. It also gives us an opportunity to expand our volunteer pool.

So, how do you get feedback at a festival? Don't wait for the newspaper. Set up a WiFi area with some laptops so bloggers may post their comments and photos right away.

Two things happen: 1) You create buy in by allowing festival goers a chance to share their opinion and 2) You build an on-line community of event enthusiasts who can be solicited for volunteer work the following year.

By offering them a platform, you're extending a hand to anyone with an opinion. As soon as the writer posts the entry, they have an immediate connection to the festival. The person will want to know what others say - and will talk up your festival blog.

Yes, this if FREE publicity that will take you into your next event. And, it gives you an avenue to contact potential volunteers.

July Tip - Get your festival and event attendees involved in the event. Later on, convert their on-line interest into real action!
